This month, I'm going to be trying out the HDR (high dynamic range) technique. Done carefully, the pictures can be stellar; used unwisely, it can be quite psychedelic and horrendous. I really like this photographer's HDR photos: Stuck in Customs, and if anyone is interested in trying it, he has a tutorial on that site. You will need photomatix and/or Photoshop, however. I'm not sure if Gimp (an open source photo editor) has a hdr merge feature, but if you want to save a lot of money, it's worth checking into.
Anyway, I've been fiddling with HDR for a few days now, and this is my favorite so far; it's not the greatest, but I'm just happy I finally got a halfway decent outcome.
Because HDR photos are time consuming to make and the light has to be just right, I won't be posting HDR photos on a daily basis. I'll probably pop in normal photos in between.
