Photographers, when shooting water scenes, can use a certain trick to make the water look smooth, dreamy and/or lightly foggy. I always wondered how they accomplished this, and only recently discovered how. I tried it out here, with partial success. I had too much light to do it well, even despite the overcast day, but you can see the smooth fog effect in the upper right quadrant.
